For the best adhesion, make sure the surface is clean, dry and free of grease, oil and dirt. If needed, adhesion may be increased by etching the surface with sandpaper. We recommend using a disposable roller when applying Flex Seal Liquid. For roofing applications, we recommend a 3/4-inch nap roller.
When purchasing your Flex Seal Liquid, it’s best to know how much you’ll need. Coverage will vary depending on the number of coats used, thickness of each coat, and type of surface the Flex Seal Liquid is applied on.
Approximate coverage:
1 Large 16oz – up to 18.75 Sq. Ft.
1 Jumbo 32oz – up to 37.5 Sq. Ft
1 Giant Gallon – up to 150 Sq. Ft.
Follow these steps when applying:
1. Brush or roll Flex Seal Liquid using an even sweeping motion.
2. Apply several thin even coats until the surface has been completely covered and ALL cracks and holes have been filled.
3. Allow each coat to dry before adding the next. The product fully cures in 24 to 48 hours.
Flex Seal Liquid can be applied in layers to increase thickness. Make sure each layer is completely dry before adding another. Flex Seal Liquid cannot be painted over as the paint will only cover, not adhere to it. Flex Seal Liquid can be layered on top with other Flex Seal Liquid colors.
We recommend painting the desired color first and then coating the project with Flex Seal Liquid Clear. Allowing for proper drying time of course!
Once your Flex Seal Liquid is completely dry, it's time to make this place feel a little homier. A box shelf is perfect for storing your Flex Seal Liquid, or your collection of miniature figurines. Using large screws, secure each corner of the shelf using a power drill.
To properly store your Flex Seal Liquid:
1. Put the lid back on the container as soon as you can. Exposure to air will cause the liquid to cure faster.
2. Store in a temperature-controlled room.
3. Upon reopening, you may find a thin skin has formed on the surface of the liquid. Remove that layer before reusing the product.
If there were any spills, clean uncured Flex Seal Liquid with a dry cloth or paper towel and mineral spirits. Do not use water or alcohol-based solvents. Removing fully cured Flex Seal Liquid from a surface may require peeling, scrapping, or sanding and could result in damage to the underlying surface.
