Winter is here, and with the cold weather comes rain and snowstorms. When your home isn’t fully sealed, water can leak in and heat can leak out, costing you more than a pretty penny. The Flex Seal Family of Products is here to help you stay safe and warm this winter. Keep reading for some easy ways to get ready for winter

3 Easy Winter Projects

1. Get Your Gutter Snow Prepped

The winter months can be harsh. Snow piles up on your rooftop and will collect (and eventually melt) on the roof or run off onto the ground, leading to rotting fascia boards below the roofline, cracks in the foundation and walkways, or leaks in the basement. Flex Tape seals gutter seams and keeps melting snow from leaking.

To properly apply Flex Tape:

1. Clean surfaces. They must be free of grease, oil, and dirt.

2. Cut tape to desired dimensions before removing the transparent film.

3. Apply with enough pressure to smooth out all air/water from the bonding site.

2. Keep It Feelin’ Hot Hot Hot

Brrring on the winter season by keeping your heater from working overtime. Any little seam or crack in your window frame can let warmth escape, meaning a higher energy bill and lower temps in your living room. Flex Paste is perfect for sealing cracks and seams, and is thick enough to withstand harsh weather conditions.

Flex Paste makes it easy. Use a putty knife, trowel, spatula, roller, or stiff brush to remove a smooth even layer of material from the top of the tub. Scooping deeply into the tub may cause air pockets which can dry the Flex Paste. Apply a generous amount using a smooth sweeping motion. Allow 24-48 hours for the product to fully cure, as the thicker the layer applied, the more cure time needed.

3. Give Busted Gutters the Cold Shoulder

Snow prepping your entire house can be hard, and making fixes after a storm can cause a brain freeze. Heavy snow and ice can build up on your gutters, and when the weight is too much it can cause damage. Make quick and easy repairs with the help of Flex Glue. To achieve the best results with Flex Glue's instant grab technology. We recommend using an amount of glue proportionate to the size of the item. The larger the item, the more glue you'll need.

For best results:

Make sure the surface is clean.

Apply firm pressure for a minimum of 10-30 seconds.

Allow glue to cure for 24 hours.

Preparing for changes in season can be daunting. With snow comes freezing temperatures and the threat of leaks once it starts to melt. That’s why it’s always better to be prepared rather than scrambling to repair and seal once the cold weather is already here. The Flex Seal Family of Products is happy to help prep, seal, and secure so you can stay nice and cozy.
